Monster Match
(Registration opens in September. Project is last week in October.)
Attend training at ESC12 on September 23 to participate in a project simulation and learn how to use wikis!
Two classrooms will be paired up and each class will create a monster. The class will then write a description of their monster and email that to their partner class. Each class will recreate the other class' monster by following the emailed directions. Classes will meet via video conference to compare the original monsters with the recreated monsters. More information and sample descriptions are located on the Monster Match page of the wiki.
Holidays Extravaganza
Registration opens in November for connections in December.

Desctiption: Holiday Challenge is a multi-point event where classes create holiday-themed interactions including skits, riddles, mad-libs, or carols. Other classes will interact with them to solve the mysteries or challenges.
Bluebonnet Conference
Registration is in May 2009 for fall project. (3 spots available)
Twenty classrooms from ESC Region 12 will partner with student teachers from Baylor University in Bluebonnet Conference. The purpose of this video conference/Internet project is to increase reading understanding, learn presentation skills, build teamwork with classmates, and increase self-confidence by working with teachers and college mentors.
Available on demand and depending on Shane's schedule.
Classes can participated in grade level songs followed by engaging questions from Shane Howard. He plays his guitar and asks the students questions that pertained to the songs. He sings songs such as the Itsy Bitsy Spider, Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, The Hokey Pokey...He will kept them engaged by changing characters on the monitor like a gorilla, sun, cat, etc... The students joined in with hand movements and dancing.
ASK:Author,Specialist,& Knowledge

ASK, Authors Specialist and Knowledge, provides students with the opportunity to interview an author or a subject specialist in the topic they are reading about in a novel. The program uses excellent children's literature, journal writing and interviewing to promote reading for understanding.
Mystery Quest Format
Attend training at ESC 12 on January 14 to participate in a project simulation.
Sample movie
Prior to the video conference each classroom will create a presentation with clues about their mystery. The other classrooms, using reference materials, will try to discover the answer to the mystery presented by each of the participating classes.

Weather With Rusty
News 10 and ESC Region 12 have partnered to bring you Weather With Rusty sessions to your school via interactive videoconference. Students will interview Rusty Garret to learn about storm safety and severe weather in Texas.
